Snaps: Montagu weekend away

At the end of March, we took a long-weekend road trip to the Little Karoo town of Montagu.

Guillaume had booked us, his dad and Jasper a stay at the pet-friendly R62 Solarfarm, where we settled into the cute and cosy Spekboom Eco Guest Cottage.

The weekend was really about chilling. When we weren’t sipping-and-snacking on the large stoep or exploring the farm, we spent a couple of hours exploring Montagu and even took a leisurely drive to Barrydale for a legendary milkshake at Diesel & Creme.

I particularly loved all the animals we encountered during our stay! There were dogs and chickens and horses and a donkey called Violet. We’d received a heads-up beforehand that the equine inhabitants have a special penchant for carrots and happily shared our potjie stash with them.

Jasper also had a great time and seemed to form a special connection with Violet during an extended nose smooch. We joked that she must have mistaken Jasper for a large, fluffy carrot!

The resident canines gave him a good run for his money, especially young Annie whose boundless energy often sent Jasper scurrying away in search of a quiet spot indoors to cool down and relax.

Here are a couple of snaps from our stay:
