Last Wednesday morning my editor walked into the office and asked “what are you doing this weekend, Nadia?”
I thought to myself – odd that we’re having a very definite Friday conversation mid-week, but nonetheless replied: “Well, I have my ten year matric reunion, actually. Not really sure how I feel about it…”
“Don’t you want to go to Mozambique instead?” she said.
I stared at her for a few moments and then uttered a very understated “Ummm… okay.”
Yup, my reactions aren’t always the greatest. In my head, however, I was going “HELL YES!! Wooo hooo! Bring on the beach! Give me all the cocktails!”
So, I jetted off to Mozambique for the weekend courtesy of Nicky Arthur PR to stay at the absolutely phenomenal White Pearl Resort in Ponta Mamoli – about 40km away from Ponta do Ouro (the famous playground of Blou Bul fans apparently) – on Friday morning and returned on Sunday.
It was magical and just what I needed to clear my (apparently) clogged heart chakra (if the massage therapist’s diagnosis was correct).
I did a lot of things I’d never done before – flew in tiny planes, rode horses on the beach, snorkeled in rough seas. And a few things I’d been craving for a while – swam in the warm Indian ocean, danced around the fire, sat on a day bed sipping cocktails, sped into the wind on a rubber duck getting soaking, salty wet, had a massage, got up early to drink coffee and soak in the view.
It was a wonderful and wild experience and I had a lot of fun with my two hilarious travel companions – Nicky and Corlet.
Here are a few pics. A more extensive story about all the funny moments and attractions will follow on News24Travel in a few weeks’ time.

This looks soooooo awesome! I’m dying to go on an overseas holiday and experience new places, food and people 🙂
