During a recent trip to Namibia I got introduced to one of the most intriguing places I have ever been: a real life ghost town called Kolmanskop.
Located in the Namib desert about 30 km from the coastal town of Luderitz, Kolmanskop is nothing more than the crumbling skeleton of a once dynamic, rich and swinging diamond mining town. The shells of houses stand exposed, sand washing through the interior spaces and doors falling off hinges. The remains of a hospital, a whore house, casino, a general dealer, a school, a butchery, a bowling alley and an ice factory are eerie reminders of a time long lost and forgotten.
I will be doing a full story on it for GoTravel24 soon, but for so long… here’s a little taster.
If I have time before going on holiday tomorrow evening, I will do another post of pics from the other parts of Namibia I visited 🙂
