So, it seems like Florence and the Machine has released a brand new single, and it’s called What the Water Gave Me. According to the Guardian’s music blog, the song references Frida Kahlo and Virginia Woolf, but despite this “lofty premise”, it “never collapses under the weight of its own drama.” Couldn’t have said it any better myself.
In fact, the song makes me want to run through the rolling hills of Ireland while wearing a light and wispy frock of white linen and lace. Is that weird?
Anyway, I can’t tell you how chuffed I was to find it on YouTube this morning – while watching Miley Cirus’ rather doubtful cover version of Smells Like Teen Spirit nogal! (Something good seems to have come of it in the end, then!) And what a fantastic pick-me-up it was! Thanks, Flo! You are magnificent, a fantastic musician, a true style icon and I wish to be just like you when I grow up. Might even henna my hair to get it just right!
So, with no further ado, here it is:
P.S. How cool are those little bird cage tattoos?!
